
Swimming And Diving Falls At Buffalo

BUFFALO, NY - The Ball State University men's and women's swimming and diving team fell to Buffalo on Saturday afternoon. The men fell 129 to 113 while the women dropped their meet by a score of 143.5 to 99.5.
Meghan Patterson clocked in a time of 17:30.81 to win BSU's first event for the women in the 1650 free.
Mark Augustyn took top honors in the 200 free with a time of 1:46.70 for the men.
Katie Bylsma along with teammate Michelle Huang earned second and third, respectively in the 50 free. Bylsma swam a time of 24.76 and Huang swam a 25.25.
Ben Battjes came out strong in the 50 free winning the event with a 22.11 final.
Addison Del Rio was a winner in the 200 IM after clocking in a time of 2:09.76. Megan Ploetz was victorious in the 200 fly (2:09.26). Emily Hurst was a winner in the 200 breast (2:25.97) along with teammate Ryan Franklin who won it for the men after swimming a 2:12.40.
The men closed the day with a first place finish in the 200 free relay. The foursome of Josh Young, Austin Laska, Zach Coquillard and Battjes won the event with a final time of 1:29.47.
In the 1-meter diving event Lisa Maertin placed second (240.00) while also earning a second place finish in the 3-meter with a score of 244.13. For the men David Linn took third in the 1-meter (204.89) and in the 3-meter (176.70).
Ball State will host the Doug Coers Invitational Friday and Saturday (Nov. 16-17) at Lewellen Aquatic Center.
