Cardinals Place Third In The Bowling Green Quadrangular

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The women's track team traveled to the Perry Field House to compete in the Bowling Green Quadrangular. The meet consisted of Ball State, Bowling Green, Cincinnati and Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne.
Ball State dominated the 60-meter hurdles event with Amber Williams in first (8.45), Lanae Stovall in second (8.74) and Katie Johnson taking third place (8.78). Williams also won the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.32.
Ball State had two runners in the top five in the 800-meter run. Amanda Ponsot finished third (2:22.07) and Ali Bishel followed in fourth place (2:22.53). Ponsot also contributed by placing second in the mile (5:05.91).
The Cardinals took first and second in the 3000-meter run with Rose Lehe leading the way in 10:17.88 and Vanessa Gilbert finishing second in a time of 10:22.26. Voni Ferguson finished first in the 400-meter dash clocking in at 57.65.
Ball State won the 4x400- meter relay with the team of Christina Whitt, Katie Johnson, Jenna Schmitmeyer and Amanda Brewer (4:00.92).
Off the track the Cardinals got two third place finishes from Tamelca Lewis in the long jump (17-4.75), and Lauren McNichols in the pole vault (10-5.50). Jessica Genovese placed second in the high jump (5-2.25). Ali Zuidervliet finished fourth in the shot put (39-2.25).
