The Cardinals started on bars hitting four out of six of their routines which all came from freshmen. BSU managed their third highest score on bars (46.850) since second year head coach Lisa Simonton has been at the helm of the Cardinals. The freshman continued competing strong hitting all of their vaults.
"What was really impressive for our first meet was the positive team energy and focus that we had with such a young team," said Simonton. "The upperclassmen really kept the team pumped up and will continue to do that throughout the season. Overall, we improved on our team score for the first meet of the season from last year's opening meet. We are determined to correct our major mistakes for our Mid-American Conference opener at Kent State next week."
Ball State returns to action on Friday, Jan. 19 as it travels to Kent State for its MAC opener. The meet will begin at 7 pm.
