
Ball State Swimming & Diving Drops First MAC Meet of 2007 At Home to Eastern Michigan

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State University men's and women's swim team fell to Eastern Michigan in Mid-American Conference action Saturday afternoon at Lewellen Aquatic Center. It was the first home meet for the Cardinals of 2007. The BSU women dropped the meet by a score of 141.5 to 158.5 and the men fell 135.50 to 99.50.
The Cardinals jumped off the blocks on a strong note after going one-two in the 400 yard medley relay. The team of Brittany Sayler, Addison Del Rio, Erin Johnson and Michelle Huang recorded at time of 3:57.92 to take top honors over the Eagles. The quartet of Katie Jasmon, Emily Hurst, Erika Paul, and Kelly Johnson clocked in a relay time of 3:59.04 to earn second place honors.
Meghan Patterson captured first place in the 1000 free with a time of 10:33.14 while teammate Sayler notched in a top honor in the 100 back after clocking in a time of 59.21.
Ball State dropped its next few events before Mary Brinkoetter placed first in the 200 back after recording a top time of 2:07.36. E. Johnson managed to win the 100 fly (58.75) while Hurst earned first place in the 200 IM (2:10.80).
The Cardinals ended the meet placing second in the 400 yard free relay.
In diving action Zach Whitaker swept the 3-meter and 1-meter events after placing first in the 3-meter dive with a score of 307.72. Whitaker also scored a 277.65 to win the 1-meter event. Stephanie Paul placed third in the 1-meter dive and in the 3-meter event.
Ball State travels to Illinois State on Monday, Jan. 15. The meet is set to begin at 1 pm.
