Epkey Brothers and Phillips Set to Compete at Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Pre-Qualifying Tennis Championships

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Three Cardinals Joe Epkey (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove), Jarrod Epkey (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) and Aaron Phillips (Effingham, Ill./Saint Anthony) have been invited to compete at the Polo Ralph Lauren Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) All-American Pre-Qualifying Tennis Championships held at the University of Tulsa (Sept. 30-Oct. 8). Each of the three will compete in singles action on Saturday (Sept. 30).
The Cardinal duo of Joe Epkey and Phillips will contend in the doubles draw on Tuesday (Oct. 3). The main draw consists of 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams with a consolation for first round losers.
In the qualifying and pre-qualifying rounds there will be 128 singles participants and 64 doubles teams (16 singles/8 doubles). Ball State could face seven out of the top 10 players in the country in singles play and eight out of the top10 in doubles.
Past participants in the Polo Ralph Lauren ITA Tournament include current professional stars such as recent US Open quarterfinalist James Blake, plus Bob and Mike Bryan, the world's top-ranked doubles team.
The matches will be played at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
