August 28, 2006 | Football
Joey Lynch (Muncie, Ind./Delta H.S.) and Brad Seiss (Warsaw, Ind./Warsaw H.S.) have been named team captains for the 2006 Ball State University football season.
"These two individuals are outstanding leaders, quality football players and excellent individuals," BSU head coach Brady Hoke says. "It has been a pleasure coaching them the last few years, and we look forward to their senior seasons. They mean a lot to our football team, and to the Ball State football program. Being named a team captain is a very high honor, and one rich in tradition."
Lynch started all 11 games last season as the team's quarterback, and has played in 25 games in his first three seasons. He has passed for 3,155 yards in his career and ranks in the top 10 in Ball State history in pass completions (309) and pass attempts (486). Lynch passed for a school record 18 touchdowns last season, and his 28 career TD passes rank sixth on the Cardinals career chart.
Seiss, who suffered a knee injury in the spring but hopes to return to play this season, started all 11 games last year and has played in 28 games in his career. After beginning his career at fullback, Seiss moved to linebacker in the spring of 2004. Last year, he posted a career-high 17 tackles at Eastern Michigan plus had 10 tackles at Western Michigan and 10 at Ohio. He has 95 career tackles and seven career tackles for loss.
