Tony Epkey Earns Distinction on Men's Tennis Academic All-MAC Team

Ball State senior Tony Epkey (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove H.S.) has been named to the 2006 Men's Tennis Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, as announced by the league office.
Epkey, who owns the team's highest grade-point average of 3.713 as a religious studies major, posted a 4-1 singles record and an undefeated 5-0 doubles record versus league opponents this season. Additionally, he accumulated 15 singles wins and 25 doubles victories during the 2005-06 campaign. In doubles, he teamed with his brother Jarrod for a 16-4 record, splitting time between the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. The duo also won the A Flight Doubles Championship at the BSU Fall Invitational.
Epkey, who was honored as the MAC Player of the Week April 18 and the MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week Feb. 23, helped the Cardinals capture their 17th MAC regular season title April 22. The squad finished the season with a 19-7 overall record, while going 5-0 versus league opponents.
