STANFORD, Calif. -- Ball State senior Matt Baccarani (Toronto, Ont./Silverthorn C.I.) -- ranked No. 104 nationally -- fell victim to Clemson's Clement Reix -- ranked No. 30 -- by a score of 6-4, 6-4 in the round of 64 at the 2006 NCAA Men's Tennis Championships Wednesday at the Taube Tennis Center at Stanford University.
Baccarani closes out his BSU singles career with an 88-57 overall singles record, while going 14-5 versus Mid-American Conference opponents.
Baccarani automatically qualified for the singles portion of the tournament earlier this month, while he and fellow senior Patrick Thompson (Medina, Ohio/Medina Senior) automatically qualified for the event in doubles. The 15th-ranked BSU duo will take on Pepperdine's No. 3 doubles tandem of Scott Doerner and Andre Begemann Thursday at 10 a.m.
