Men's Volleyball Upsets No. 14 Ohio State

Columbus, Ohio - - The Ball State men's volleyball team used a dominating attack to post an impressive 3-0 (30-21, 31-29, 30-22) victory at No. 14 Ohio State Friday evening at St. John Arena. With the win, the Cardinals improve to 19-5 (7-4 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) while the Buckeyes fall to 16-11 (4-5 MIVA).
In the match, the Cardinals hit for a .398 (49-14-88) rate of success, with Patrick Durbin (Louisville, Ky./Trinity H.S.) hitting for a .500 (13-2-22) mark and Nick Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller H.S.) connecting for a .406 (19-6-32) rate of success.
Meyer's 19 kills were a match-high, while his three service aces tied with Durbin for match-high honors. Both players also collected four digs and two blocks in the win.
Also scoring solid attack numbers for the Cardinals in the match were Matt McCarthy (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville South H.S.) with six kills - - including the match-winner - - and a .455 hitting mark, Evan Berg (Bristol, Wis./Central H.S.) with five kills and a .364 attack percentage and Zoran Grabovac (Des Moines, Iowa/Hoover H.S.) with four kills and a .600 rate of success.
Setter Dave Carlson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids H.S.) paved the way for the BSU offense with a match-high 39 assists. He also collected four digs and a pair of service aces.
Ian Peckler (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills H.S.) tallied a team-best five digs, while Doug Willmann (St. Louis, Mo./Francis Howell North H.S.) added a kill. Mark Rumschik (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park H.S.) also factored in the win.
