Softball Falls Twice at Central Michigan
April 28, 2006 | Softball
The Chippewas socked BSU with three runs in the first and went ahead 4-0 after four innings in game one. The Cardinals scored their lone run -- matched in the bottom half of the inning by CMU -- when Amanda Graeter reached first and advanced to second on a fielding error by the right fielder and then scored on Sarah McGregor's double in the top of the fifth. BSU threatened with runners on second and third base, but the Chippewas saved the inning with a ground out double play.
Central Michigan posted an 8-5 advantage in hits in the opener. Abby Gross led BSU with a 2-of-3 performance. Amanda Pick took the pitching loss, dropping to 6-9 on the season.
Kelli Jeziorski led off the nightcap with a double to center field and then scored on Katie Pilger's two-out double to left center. CMU answered the Cardinals by knotting the score in the bottom of the inning and going ahead with another in the fourth.
The teams tied 4-4 in hits with four different Cardinals contributing. Abby Zollman went the distance, striking out three and falling to 2-5 on the season.
Ball State, 12-25 overall and 5-11 in the MAC, continues league play Saturday with a single game at Eastern Michigan.
