Softball Falls to Ohio 7-2

Ohio opened the game with an RBI single to left field by Kelly Rodriguez in the first inning, driving in Debbi Szalejko.
The Bobcats would add another run in the second inning on a run-scoring single to right center field by Alicia Catlette.
Two more runs were posted by Ohio in the third inning with another single to center field by Rodriguez, scoring Szalejko and Courtney Waters.
Ball State was held to only two runs in the contest, brought by the hands of Kelli Jeziorski in the third inning. Following a walk from Kamilah Holle, Jeziorski went deep over the left field fence for her second homer of the weekend.
Ohio would recover in the fourth, adding another run on an RBI double to right center field by Waters to make the score 5-2.
The Bobcats added two more insurance runs in the sixth on a single to right field by Szalejko, scoring Marian Davis and Amanda Sacks.
Nicki Hellem (1-3) suffered the loss for Ball State, allowing four runs and six hits in two innings of work.
Michelle Sauter (7-6) picked up the win for Ohio, allowing no runs and only one hit in four innings on the mound.
The Ball State softball team will return to action Tuesday at 3 p.m. when it squares off with Purdue in Lafayette, Ind.
