Softball Attacked and Defeated by Falcons

In game one, Bowling Green sacked Ball State with three runs in the first inning on Desiree Miller's long bomb over the left center field fence with one out. BSU looked to threaten when Cortney Patteson singled with one out in the bottom of the inning, but the Falcons retired the side with a double play.
After BGSU added another run in the top of the seventh, BSU made a second rally attempt on Abby Gross' double with one out, However, 2005 MAC Pitcher of the Year Liz Vrabel earned her 11th win of the season by retiring the final two Cardinal batters.
Bowling Green smashed out 10 hits to Ball State's two. Amanda Pick took the loss, throwing all seven innings.
After three scoreless innings, Bowling Green managed game two's first run in the fourth. The Falcons added three more on five hits in the sixth and then sacked BSU wtih two more runs in the top of the seventh. The Cardinals had runners on first and second with just one out in the sixth, but BG's Vrabel, throwing in relief, retired the side.
The Falcons accumulated 13 hits in the nightcap compared to just four for the Cardinals. Pick and Gross had two apiece for BSU. Starting pitcher Laura Masch took the loss for the Cardinals. Vrabel threw the middle three innings in relief to earn her 12th victory for BGSU.
Ball State continues a five-game home stand with single games versus Toledo Saturday (2 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.)
