Men's Tennis Sweeps IPFW

To begin the match, the 26th-ranked doubles tandem of Matt Baccarani and Joe Epkey pushed past IPFW's Nabil Mourad Filho and Landry Nzudie 8-4 in the top doubles spot. At the No. 2 position, the brother duo of Tony and Jarrod Epkey outlasted the host Mastodons' Carlos Gonzalez and Arturo Salgado 8-5. Rounding out doubles play were Patrick Thompson and Jose Perdomo who only gave up one game (8-1) against their opponents -- Daniel Jackson and Nathan Jones.
The Cardinals continued the success in singles play as all six matches were decided in straight sets. Joe Epkey defeated Nzudie in the top position 6-1, 6-2, while Thompson recorded his 14th-straight singles win in a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 2. Tony Epkey only gave up two games in a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 and Jarrod Epkey took down his opponent -- Salgado -- 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 4 position. Closing out singles play were Danny Vidal and Perdomo, who came up with a 6-4, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
The Ball State squad continues MAC competition when it takes on No. 52 Western Michigan Saturday at 1 p.m. in Kalamazoo, Mich.
