Muncie, Ind. - - The Ball State men's volleyball team completed a season-sweep of Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association rival Lewis Saturday night with a 3-0 (30-24, 30-24, 30-26) victory at Worthen Arena. With the win, BSU locks up a home MIVA Quarterfinal match on April 22 and improves to 18-5 (6-4 MIVA) on the year. The Flyers fall to 9-15 (2-7 MIVA) with the loss.

The Cardinals never trailed in the opening set, building a 5-1 advantage out of the gate. After leading by six at the 11-5 mark, the Flyers would battle within two points at 20-18 before a service error and a kill from Evan Berg (Bristol, Wis./Central H.S.) put the Cardinals up by four again at 22-18.
BSU would go on to score eight of the final 14 points to win the game 30-24 on a triple block from Berg, Matt McCarthy (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville South H.S.) and Dave Carlson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids H.S.).
The second game saw the Cardinals jump ahead 4-1, only to have Lewis tie the score at 4-4. After playing to a 12-12 tie, a Flyers attack error and a block assists from Termion and Doug Willmann (St. Louis, Mo./Francis Howell North H.S) would spark a 3-0 BSU run which put the Cardinals up for good in the game. Ahead 28-24, back-to-back kills from Durbin and Willmann would end the game at 30-24.
Lewis managed to put the first point on the board in the third set, only to have Termion post back-to-back kills to put the Cardinals ahead at 2-1. The teams would exchange the lead two more times, before a Lewis attack error put BSU up for good at 4-3. From there, the Cardinals would build a nine-point advantage at the 24-15 mark.
The Flyers would not go away, however, as they scored the next six points to draw within three at 24-21. The BSU edge would remain three points, at 27-24, until Carlson sparked the largest roar of the night from the crowd, winning a joust at the net and sending both the ball and Lewis attacker flying to the floor.
The Flyers would follow with an attack error, giving BSU match point at 29-24 and forcing the Lewis coach to call his last time out of the night. The Flyers managed to post two more points out of the break, only to have Termion smash his career-high ninth kill of the night to win the game 30-26 and the match 3-0.
McCarthy, Berg and Willmann would each collect seven kills in the win. McCarthy also tied for match-high honors with five block assists, while collecting one dig and a .429 (
