Women's Volleyball Travels to Toledo Saturday

The 18-team tournament field is expected to include 12 NCAA Division I programs, five NCAA Division II teams and one NCAA Division III institution.
Last weekend, the Cardinals opened spring play by hosting a four-team tournament at Worthen Arena. BSU finished the event with a 2-1 record, dropping its opening contest to Dayton 0-4 (35-37, 27-30, 12-15, 15-6) before rebounding for wins over Butler 3-1 (17-30, 30-27, 15-8, 15-13) and IUPUI 3-1 (30-15, 30-23, 15-8, 16-18).
While the Cardinals offense was limited to a .122 (123-74-403) attack percentage in the three matches, the team's defense played amazing by posting 27.11 digs per game - - based on nine 30-point games.
2005 AVCA All-America Honorable Mention and CVU.com National Libero of the Year Finalist Amanda McCormick paced the defense, collecting 116 digs in nine games for a 12.89 digs-per-game average.
Brittany May paced the Ball State offense, smashing 34 kills in nine games for a 3.78 kills-per-game average. She also collected a team-high 10 total blocks on the day.
Also playing for the Cardinals in the event were: Kelly Cochran (6 games, 17 kills, 31 digs, 1 block); Kirby Gibson (9 games, 16 kills, 10 digs, 5 blocks); Angie Parrell (8 games, 13 kills, 19 digs, 5 blocks); Elaina Kakatolis (9 games, 15 kills, 1 dig, 4 blocks); Lanee Mikesell (1 game, 1 kill, 15 digs); Madison Monk (4 games, 9 kills, 10 digs, 2 blocks); Rachel Alcorn (6 games, 18 kills, 19 digs, 1 block); Caitlin Morency (4 games, 9 digs) and Molly Sullivan (1 game, 4 digs).
Ball State's 2006 spring slate also includes tournaments in Indianapolis (April 8) and at Indiana (April 15).
