Women's Volleyball Opens Spring Schedule Saturday at Worthen Arena

Muncie, Ind. - - The Ball State women's volleyball team opens its 2006 spring schedule this Saturday when it hosts Dayton, IUPUI and Butler in a four-team tournament at Worthen Arena. Action gets underway at 10 a.m., when BSU faces off vs. Dayton and IUPUI takes on Butler.

At 12:30 - - following an hour break - - the Cardinals will battle the Bulldogs, while the Flyers will play the Jaguars.

The final round of matches - - which begins at 2 p.m - - will have BSU taking on IUPUI and Dayton playing Butler.

For all three rounds, the teams will play two games to 30 points (win by 2), followed by two games to 15 points (win by 2).

The Cardinals - - which finished the 2005 season with a 21-10 overall record - - topped Butler (Sept. 14) by a score of 3-0 (30-20, 30-22, 30-18) last season, while falling to IUPUI (Sept. 6) by a score of 1-3 (28-30, 30-28, 23-30, 21-30). BSU did not play Dayton last season.

Ball State's 2006 spring slate also includes tournaments at Toledo (April 1), in Indianapolis (April 8) and at Indiana (April 15).
