Men's Tennis Wins Ninth Straight

In the first contest of the evening, all three Ball State doubles teams won by the same score. Matt Baccarani and Joe Epkey took down EKU's Tom Wospil and Billy Pfaffinger, while Tony Epkey and Jarrod Epkey defeated their opponents -- Mario Simic and Fred Goncalves. Rounding out the sweep was Patrick Thompson and Joe Vallee.
All six Cardinals won their respective singles matches in straight sets to finish off Eastern Kentucky. Baccarani, Joe Epkey, Tony Epkey, Thompson, Jarrod Epkey and Danny Vidal added another notch in the win column at the No. 1 through No. 6 spots, respectively.
After a short intermission, BSU took on next door neighbor Anderson University. In both doubles and singles, the Cardinals only gave up four games to the Ravens.
Brothers Tony and Jarrod Epkey slid past Anderson's No. 1 tandem of Cameron Scott and Blake Burke 8-1. Joe Epkey and Vallee swept Jeremy Zerkle and Aaron Dicken 8-0 at the No. 2 slot, while Vidal and Jose Perdomo closed out doubles play with an 8-2 victory over Brian Votaw and Brad Simcoe.
The Cardinals dominated in singles play as all but one match was decided by a straight-set 6-0, 6-0 decision. Joe Epkey and Thompson secured the wins at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Jarrod Epkey defeated his opponent -- Burke -- 6-0, 6-1. Perdomo, Vidal and Vallee closed out singles play in the No. 4 through 6 positions, respectively.
Ball State takes a short break before hitting the court March 10 in Las Vegas, Nev. The Cardinals look to continue their success when they face No. 66 UNLV at 1 p.m.
