Men's Tennis Tallies Two Wins in Doubleheader

The Cardinals' No. 1 doubles tandem of Matt Baccarani and Joe Epkey scored an 8-2 victory over the Sycamores and then came back to post an 8-5 decision over Valpo. In the No. 2 hole, Tony Epkey teamed with his brother -- Jarrod -- to take down Indiana State 8-6. Tony then paired with Patrick Thompson for an 8-3 win over Valparaiso. Joe Vallee partnered with fellow freshman Jose Perdomo for an 8-4 victory over the Crusaders in the No. 3 slot.
In singles play, Thompson, Vallee and Danny Vidal tallied two victories on the day. Thompson slid past ISU's Rishi Behl 6-2, 6-4 and also finished off Valpo's Mike Shideler 6-1, 6-4 -- all from the No. 3 position. Vallee notched singles wins at the No. 5 spot, taking down Indiana State's James Preston (6-2, 6-1) and Valparaiso's Dave Bukowski (6-2, 6-2). Vidal won by default over Indiana State and recorded a straight set 6-3, 7-5 victory over Valpo's Mike Wagner.
The Cardinals (7-3) return to action next weekend when they travel to No. 66 Purdue Friday and No. 60 Indiana Sunday.
