Men's Volleyball Alumni Score 3-1 Victory Over Cardinals

Redshirt sophomore Matt McCarthy (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville South H.S.) paced all players in the contest with 14 kills, while adding a team-high four total blocks. He also collected three of the Ball State's seven service aces, while logging four digs and hitting .435 (14-4-23).
Also collecting double-figure kill totals for the current Cardinals were senior Nick Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller H.S.) with 13 and sophomore Todd Chamberlain (Louisville, Ky./Trinity H.S.) with 10.
Junior Ian Peckler (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills H.S.) was the only BSU player with double-figure digs, logging 10 on the evening.
On the alumni side, Keith Schunzel (2001-04) guided the alumni offense to a .325 (54-15-120) hitting percentage through the first three games, paving the way for the win. Schunzel would finish the night with match-highs of 52 assists and 11 digs, while adding six kills and a team-high three total blocks.
Evan Berg (2003-06) led the alumni offense with nine kills, while Dainis Matison (1995-07, 99) added eight.
Overall, 14 of the 15 alumni players logged at least two kills, while 10 of 15 BSU players tallied a marker.
For the night, the alumni held a .278 (68-23-162) to .213 (66-31-164) hitting advantage. BSU held a 7-2 advantage and aces and a 55-54 edge in digs. Both teams racked up 10 total blocks.
