Women's Swimming and Diving Defeats Bowling Green In MAC Dual Action

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio ? The Ball State University women's swimming and diving team earned a 190 to 110 victory at Bowling Green in Mid-American Conference dual action on Saturday afternoon in Cooper Pool.
With the win the Cardinals improve their league record to 3-1.
Ball State started off slow in its first two events before Mary Brinkoetter (Decatur, Ill./Saint Teresa) earned a first place finish in the 200 free with a time of 1:56.75. Teammate Erika Paul (McCordsville, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) came in second in that event (1:57.05).
Brittany Sayler (Crawfordsville, Ind./Southmont) took top honors in the 100 back (57.90) while Emily Hurst (Zionsville, Ind./North Central) clocked in a time of 1:06.89 for first place in the 100 breast.
Megan Ploetz (Mount Vernon, Ind./Castle) garnered the top spot in the 200 fly (2:07.92).
During the diving break the Cardinals Katie Boyle (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) dove to a first place finish in the 1-meter dive after scoring a 245.58.
Addison Del Rio (Munster, Ind./Munster) and Michelle Huang (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Central) took first and second respectively in the 100 free. Del Rio clocked in a 53.57 and Huang wasn't too far behind with a time of 53.85.
Sayler shined in the 200 back after recording a time of 2:05.12 for first place honors.
Hurst won her second event of the day in the 200 breast (2:25.13). The Cardinals continued to end the meet strong with wins in the 100 fly, 3-meter dive and the 800 free relay.
Ball State continues action when they host the Douglas Coers Invitational (Nov. 17-18) at Lewellen Aquatic Center.
