
Swimming and Diving Defeats Akron in MAC Dual Action

The quartet of freshman Katie Jasmon (Springfield, Ill./Sacred Heart Griffin), junior Addison Del Rio (Munster, Ind./Munster), senior Erin Johnson (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead) and senior Brittany Sayler (Crawfordsville, Ind./Southmont) captured a time of 1:49.24 to win the 200-yard medley relay in the dual meets first event.
Freshman Mary Ehresman (Lafayette, Ind./Jefferson) earned a season best with a victory in the 1000 free (10:36.04).
Junior Michelle Huang (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Central) topped out at first in the 200 free after clocking in a season best, 1:55.33.
Sayler grabbed her second first place finish on the day in the 100 back (58.01).
Del Rio and freshman Emily Hurst (Zionsville, Ind./North Central) finished one-two in the 100 breast, with a time of 1:06.38 and 1:06.07 respectively.
Huang and freshman Kelly Johnson (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead) took first and second in the 50 free. Huang clocked in a top time of 24.81 while Johnson finished with a time of 25.16.
The only event the Cardinals did not take first in before the diving competition was the 200 fly.
Huang earned another first place finish in the 100 free (53.63) while Sayler clocked in a 2:06.18 for top honors in the 200 back. Hurst earned another first place finish in the 200 breast with a time of 2:24.52.
The foursome of K. Johnson, Sayler, sophomore Erika Paul (McCordsville, Ind./Hamilton South Eastern) and Huang ended the day on a strong note as they recorded a team best 3:36.51 to win the 400 free relay.
Senior Katie Boyle (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) finished second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 233.70 while junior Stephan Paul (Mishawaka, Ind./Mishawaka) also placed second in the 3-meter dive after a final score of 248.93.
Swimming and Diving will be back in action on Friday (Nov. 3) at Miami University.
