MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State University men's and women's swimming and diving team will open its 2006-07 home schedule this weekend when it hosts Buffalo (Oct. 27) and Akron (Oct. 28) at the Lewellen Aquatic Center. The meets are scheduled to begin at 5 pm and 1 pm, respectively.
The men are coming off of a third place showing at the Indiana Intercollegiate (Oct. 14), while the women finished second. Both teams won their first dual meet at Eastern Illinois (Oct. 13).
Just a year ago BSU traveled to Buffalo and Akron. The Cardinals dominated the Bulls with the men winning 136-101 and the women, 164-79. Just the women will be competing against Akron Saturday; last year Ball State defeated Akron, 184.5-111.5.
Ball State welcomes back All-Mid-American Conference standout Adam Konopka (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) who garnered First Team All-MAC honors for the men, while the women return All-MAC honorees Mary Brinkoetter (Decatur, Ill./Saint Teresa), Addison Del Rio (Munster, Ind/Munster) and Brittany Sayler (Crawfordsville, Ind./Southmont).
