Austin Steele Wins Two MAC Awards
October 19, 2006 | Men's Golf
Steele was named both the MAC Men's Golfer of the Week and the league's Male Scholar Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office in Cleveland.
Steele, a marketing major who owns a 3.68 grade-point average, finished third at the 17-team, 93-golfer Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational last week with rounds of 70-68-71. BSU placed third as a team (283-278-290?851).
"Austin is very deserving of these honors," said BSU head coach Mike Fleck. "He has had a consistent fall season that really dates back to last spring. To finish our 54-hole event in the top three and under par is an impressive feat."
Steele and the men's golf team returns to action with their final two events of the fall season -- Oct. 23-34 at the 49er Classic in Charlotte, N.C. and the Herb Wimberly Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M.
