Swimming and Diving Wins Dual Meet at Eastern Illinois

Ball State vs. Eastern Illinois
CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Ball State University men's and women's swimming and diving team defeated Eastern Illinois on Friday night (Oct. 13).
The women finished with a team total of 148 while the men scored a 126.
The women took first, second and third in the 400 yard medley relay. The foursome of Brittany Saylor, Addison Del Rio, Erin Johnson and Michelle Huang topped out at first with a time of 4:02.37. As for the men, Brett Pettit, Ryan Franklin, Adam Konopka and Ben Battjes swam their way to the top with a time of 3:40.18 for a first place stance.
Meghan Patterson won her heat in the 1000 free after clocking in a time of 10:39.44. Mary Ehresman and Stephanie Schortgen came in second and third respectively.
In the 200 yard free Mary Brinkoetter captured first with a 2:00.10 final. Ben Karwoski earned a first place finish in that event with a time of 1:47.76.
Emily Hurst won the 200 yard IM in 2:12.75 and was followed by teammate Erika Paul in 2:13.79. Konopka also took first in the 200 yard IM (2:03.61) and Ryan Franklin finished second (2:04.78).
Ball State swept the 1-mtr diving competition with Katie Boyle placing first (243.30) followed by Stephanie Paul (242.55) and Valerie McGowan (216.30).
Other top finishers for the Cardinals were Ehresman in the 200 fly (2:10.84), Karwoski in the men's 200 fly (2:01.01), Huang in the 100 free (53.75), Sayler in the 200 back (2:08.40), Brinkoetter in the 500 free (5:19.94) and Karwoski in the 500 free (4:48.86) for the men.
The BSU women's diving team owned the 3-mtr diving event as Paul took first (232.20) followed by Boyle (228.68) and McGowan (218.70).
The Cards closed the meet with wins in the 200 breast from Emily Hurst (2:27.77) along with Franklin for the men (2:16.51).
