Men's Tennis Falls to No. 51 Northwestern

After sweeping the doubles matches, BSU could only come up with one singles win. Senior Matt Baccarani scored the Cardinals' lone singles victory at the No. 1 slot. Baccarani won in straight sets (6-4, 6-3) over Northwestern's Christian Tempke.
In doubles play, the fourth-ranked doubles duo of Baccarani and fellow senior Patrick Thompson outlasted NU's Adam Schaechterle and Matt Christian 9-7 at the No. 1 position. The brother duo of Tony and Jarrod Epkey pulled through with the same result -- a 9-7 win -- over Tempke and Marc Dwyer at No. 2. Rounding out the doubles victories were Joe Epkey and Joe Vallee. The tandem slid past Northwestern's Willy Lock and Juan Gomez 9-8 (4) at the No. 3 slot.
Ball State looks to rebound when it travels to No. 48 Michigan Saturday. The matchup is slated to begin at 6 p.m. in Ann Arbor, Mich.
