Results and complete tournament information will be posted to ballstatesports.com following each day of action.
Among the Cardinals that are expected to lead the team this fall are a trio of seniors -- Carmen Bodine, Julie Harder and Katie Sundberg.
Sundberg returns this fall for what hopes to be another successful campaign. The three-time letterwinner was the top finisher twice for Ball State a year ago, including when she earned medalist honors at the 2005 Mid-American Conference Championships.
When she led the Cardinals at the league meet in May, it was the third consecutive season she had the low individual score for the team at the event. She also had the team's best scoring average at 80.54. Sundberg was named to both the Academic All-MAC First Team and the All-MAC First Team last season.
"I expect great leadership from our seniors and I feel confident in their ability to deliver it," says second-year BSU head coach Katherine Mowat. "I feel really good about our team chemistry. I was very proud of Katie's efforts last year and they way she ended the season. I expect her to carry that into her senior year."
Bodine is a three-year letterwinner, who tied for first last season at the Illini Spring Classic, and boasts a scoring average of 80.64. She also carded the lowest score for the team at the Indiana Invitational and tied for 20th at the MAC Championships last April. Bodine also garnered Academic All-MAC First Team honors last year.
Harder begins her second campaign with the Cardinals after transferring from University of Nebraska. She earned her first letter in 2005 as she led the team at two events. Harder earned medalist honors at the Butler Spring Invitational firing consecutive rounds of 79, helping the team to an overall second-place finish. Last spring, Harder had a scoring average of 81.36 and tied for 12th at the MAC Championships.
Over the summer, Harder competed in the qualifier for the LPGA Jamie Farr Classic -- missing the cut by recording a 76 for the round.
"Julie played great this summer and came close to making the cut of an LPGA event which says a lot," Mowat says. "It shows her game is in really good shape."
A returning corp of Cardinals include Chelsie Flannery, Holly Jones and Amber Uphaus, while Ashley Burgess, Kallie Harrison and Sarah Windlan all begin their first seasons with BSU.
"Our team worked hard this summer on their game and they are anxious to get playing," Mowat adds. "Everyone is back. I feel very confident with the group and all the players we have back, plus the addition of our newest players."
The Cardinals return a strong team after finishing fourth at the MAC Championships and look to improve on that finish.
"The fall season is just as important as the spring season," Mowat says. "It provides us an opportunity to get better and prepare for conference competition."
After Monday and Tueday's action, BSU travels to the Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic at Bay Tree Golf Plantation in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The fall season closes out with tournaments in October at the UK Wildcat Invitational in Lexington, Ky., and at the Shoot-Out At The Legends in Franklin, Ind.
