Doug Coers Invitational Day 1 Results
The Ball State women's swimming & diving team captured the 2005 Doug Coers Invitational title over the weekend with a team score of 935, while the men's squad took home second in the event with 547 points.
On the women's side, the Cardinals took home the title, while Wisconsin-Milwaukee (531 points) placed second, Baldwin-Wallace (192) finished third, IUPUI (184) took fourth and Valparaiso (141) placed fifth.
On the men's side, Wisconsin-Milwaukee (646) took home the invitational title, followed by Ball State, IUPUI (340), Baldwin-Wallace (259) and Valparaiso (219).
Both the BSU women and men opened the two-day event with a first-place finish in the 200 free relay. Ashley VanOsdol, Brittany Sayler, Addison Del Rio and Abby Arnold posted a time of 1:39.10 for the women, while Jagen Arnold, Ritchie Caudill, Kurtis Leer and Tyler McQuiston finished the event with a clocking of 1:27.17.
Del Rio would add first-place times in the 200 IM (2:09.01), 200 breast (2:30.82), the 400 medley relay (3:57.13) and the 200 medley relay (1:50.13).
Sayler would also post first-place finishes in the 400 medley relay, 200 medley relay, 400 freestyle relay (3:36.62) and the 100 back (59.34).
Mary Brinkoetter would go on to top the charts in the 500 free (5:11.63), 400 IM (4:36.70), 800 free relay (7:53.63), 200 back (2:09.50)
Erika Paul and Michelle Huang would join Del Rio and Sayler on the first-place 400 medley relay team. Paul would also win the 100 fly (58.33) and 400 free relay, while Huang won the 200 free (1:55.95), 800 free relay, 400 free relay.
Abby Arnold and Erin Johnson, would combine with Del Rio and Sayler on the 200 medley relay squad, while Arnold was also a member of the first-place 400 free relay.
Jenna Arnold and Meghan Patterson would combine with Brinkoetter and Huang on the top-finishing 800 free relay squad.
Dani Fisher rounds out the women's first-place finishers with a clocking of 18:14.16 in the 1,650 free.
On the men's side, Leer would also post first-place finishes in the 100 free (47.84), 200 free (1:46.49) and 400 medley relay (3:36.03) - - which was joined by Caudill, Adam Konopka and Ryan Franklin.
Caudill would also win the 200 IM (1:58.29) and 200 breast (2:15.18), while Konopka turned in the top-time in the 200 back (1:58.73).
Zach Whitaker rounds out the men's top-finishers with a pair of diving victories - - 3-meter diving (285.30 points) and 1-meter diving (282.40).
