Women's Swimming Claims Victory Over Bowling Green, 195-105

Muncie, Ind. -- The Ball State women's swimming and diving team defeated Bowling Green Friday night with a team score of 195-105. With the win, the Cardinals improve their Mid-American Conference record to 3-1 while the Falcons fall to 0-4 in league competition.
The Ball State victory began with a first place finish by the Cardinal relay squad in the 400 medley relay. Mary Brinkoetter, Lauren Harger, Erika Paul, and Ashley VanOsdol combined for a 3:59.62 win in the event.
Ball State would go on to win first-place finishes in eleven more events, including a one-two-three finish in the 200 breaststroke by Addison Del Rio (2:26.07), Bekah Gingerich (2:29.50), and Megan Ploetz (2:30.99).
Brittany Sayler earned first-place finishes in the 100 backstroke (58.78) and 200 backstroke (2:06.66).
Addison Del Rio swam to a first-place time in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.42) and the 200 IM (2:10.22).
Abby Arnold clocked a first-place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.78.
Paige Vernasco won the 1-meter diving competition posting a mark of 238.95.
Ashley VanOsdol earned a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.35.
Erin Johnson out swam the competition in the 100 butterfly posting a first-place time of 58.52.
Stephanie Paul posted a first-place mark of 244.40 in the 3-meter diving competition.
The Ball State relay team rounded out the evening with a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay. Brittany Sayler, Ashley VanOsdol, Michelle Huang, and Erika Paul combined for a time of 3:35.62 in the Cardinal victory.
The Ball State women's swimming and diving team will return to action next weekend at the Doug Coers Invitational in Muncie, Ind. The men's squad plays host to Miami tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Lewellen Aquatic Center.
