Women's Swimming Tops Akron, 184.5-115.5

Akron, Ohio - - The Ball State women's swimming & diving team improved to 2-0 in Mid-American Conference action Saturday afternoon with a 184.5 to 115.5 victory over the Akron Zips at the Ocasek Natatorium.
The Cardinals' took the advantage on the first event, when its 400 medley relay team combined to post a time of 3:57.23, topping the Zips by 0.61 seconds.
Megan Patterson followed with a first-place clocking of 17:41.03 in the 1,650 free, while Brittany Mishler took second with a time of 18:18.70.
The Cardinals would go on to post eight more first-place times in the meet.
Addison Del Rio would be the big winner on the night, taking home the top spots in the 100 (1:06.38) and 200 (2:26.13) breaststroke, as well as the 200 IM (2:08.85).
Brittany Sayler would collect a pair of top times, winning the 100 (59.46) and 200 (2:07.61) backstroke events.
Ashley VanOsdol would dominate the freestyle sprints, placing first in the 50 (24.71) and 100 (53.69) free events.
The Cardinals would also take home the top-time in the 200 free relay, clocking in at 1:37.97.
The Ball State women's swimming & diving program will look for its third-consecutive MAC win Saturday, Nov. 5, when it host Miami at Lewellen Aquatic Center at 11 a.m.
