Swimming and Diving Picks Up a Pair of Wins at Buffalo

Buffalo, N.Y. -- The men's and women's swimming and diving teams both won their first Mid-American Conference match-ups of the season against Buffalo Friday night. The men's squad scored a 136-101 victory in the meet, while the women's team earned a score of 164-79.
In the victory the women's squad picked up nine first-place finishes, including two first-place finishes in relay events, while the men's team earned seven first-place times.
On the women's side, Abby Arnold placed first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.86. Addison Del Rio picked up first-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:09.87) and the 200 breaststroke (2:26.64).
Michelle Haung swam to a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.57. Brittany Sayler also earned a first-place finish with a time of 2:06.05 in the 200 backstroke.
The women's relay team also earned first place finishes in the 200 medley relay (1:49.34) and 400 freestyle relay (3:35.21). On the diving end, Stephanie Paul earned top marks on the 1-meter (239.25) and 3-meter (219.60) boards.
For the men, Kurtis Leer earned first-place times in the 200 freestyle (1:44.57) and 100 freestyle (47.61). Tyler McQuiston swam to a first-place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.83.
Jim Lullo out swam the competition in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:54.37, while Adam Konopka and Ritchie Caudill earned first-place times in the 200 IM (1:57.56) and 200 breaststroke (2:12.47), respectively.
The men's relay squad also earned a first-place mark in the 400 freestyle relay (3:14.16).
The Ball State swimming and diving team will return to action tomorrow night when the women's squad faces the Zips in Akron, Ohio. The men's team will return to action Saturday, November 12 against Miami in Muncie, Ind.
