Swimming and Diving Racks Up Pair of Runner Up Finishes

West Lafayette, Ind. - - The Ball State swimming & diving program turned in another solid performance Saturday afternoon, as both the men's and women's squads took home second place at the 2005 Indiana Intercollegiates hosted by Purdue.
On the women's side, the Cardinals collected 590 points to only trail Purdue's 843. Indianapolis came in third (252), followed by IUPUI (113), Rose-Hulman (70) and Vincennes (60).
On the men's side, Ball State posted 358.5 points to trail only Purdue's 856.5. Indianapolis was third with 296 points, followed by IUPUI (125), Rose-Hulman (99) and Vincennes (86).
On the day, the women's team collected six top three finishes in 12 events, while the men collected three in 12 events.
Erica Paul and Brittany Sayler each turned in a runner-up finish for the women's squad, with times of 58.74 in the 100 butterfly and 59.01 in the 100 backstroke, respectively. BSU's 200 medley relay (1:50.32) and 200 freestyle relay (1:40.36), also turned in runner up times.
Kurtis Leer brought home a second-place clocking of 21.77 in the 50 free for the men's squad, while Adam Konopka tied for the runner-up spot in the 200 IM with a time of 1:59.55. BSU's 200 freestyle relay squad also took home second place with a time of 1:27.45.
