Willigers was a member of the Cardinals’ men’s swimming team from 1984-89. He was named the 1986-87 MAC Most Outstanding Swimmer and the 1988-89 MAC Senior Swimmer of the Year. Willigers was a four-time Ball State Most Valuable Swimmer and a seven-time MAC Champion. He still holds the school record for wins in a season (32 in 1988) and first-place finishes in a career (76). Willigers is Ball State’s record holder in the 200-yard freestyle (1:39.41) and 200 individual medley (1:50.76).
