Sharon Knecht was a member of the Ball State women’s volleyball team from 1990-94 and became the first volleyball player in school history to be selected as the MAC Player of the Year when she won the award as a senior in 1993. Knecht was a 1993 All-MAC First-Team selection and was chosen to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Mideast Region Third-Team. A tri-captain as a senior, Knecht was selected as Ball State’s Most Valuable Player as a senior and the team’s co-MVP as a junior. She helped Ball State to its first-ever MAC Regular-Season Championship in Ball State history in 1993 with 390 kills, which was the third highest single-season total in school annals. Knecht is an inside Sales Representative for Knauf Insulation in Shelbyville, Ind.
