Steger, a two-time All-MAC golfer who led BSU to the 1975 MAC title, was named to the All-America third team in 1977 and second team in 1978 before spending two years on the PGA tour. He twice played in the NCAA Championships, leading the Cards to 20th in the 1975-team standings. Among his wins are the 1973 Indiana Junior, the 1975 Indiana Amateur, the 1980 Indiana Open, and both the 1977 and 1978 Indiana Intercollegiate.
