Steger, a two-time All-MAC golfer who led BSU to the 1975 MAC title, was named to the All-America third team in 1977 and second team in 1978 before spending two years on the PGA tour. He twice played in the NCAA Championships, leading the Cards to 20^th in the 1975-team standings. Among his wins are the 1973 Indiana Junior, the 1975 Indiana Amateur, the 1980 Indiana Open, and both the 1977 and 1978 Indiana Intercollegiate.
