Sarah Mikrut (Doyle) earned four letters for the Ball State gymnastics team from 1993-97. She was the first gymnast in school history to tally a 10.0 score and to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Mikrut set the Ball State record in the vault (10.0) plus set school marks on the beam, floor, and in the all-around. She qualified for the NCAA Championships in 1996 and then repeated the feat when she made a second straight appearance in 1997. Mikrut qualified for the NCAA Regional four straight seasons, and was a 1996 National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches Academic All-American.
A former student assistant in the Ball State athletics communications office, Mikrut is now the head gymnastics coach at her alma mater, Carmel Catholic High School, in Illinois. She has coached Carmel to four straight state qualifications, including fourth-place finishes in each of the last two seasons.
