Faris, a three-year regular on Ball State’s football team, still owns four of the school’s interception records. Faris’ 95-yard interception return and his 177 interception return yards in 1967 give him the BSU mark for longest interception return plus the school’s single game, season, and career records for interception return yards. Faris was named to the All-Indiana Collegiate Conference team in 1967 after helping the Cardinals to the league title and a berth in the Grantland Rice Bowl. He later became an orthopedic surgeon in Beech Grove, Ind.
