Pruis was president of Ball State when the university was admitted into the Mid-American Conference in May 1973, a move that launched the Cardinals into a new era of athletic credibility and notoriety. During Pruis’ decade as BSU’s president from 1968 to 1978, the university’s elevation to Division I status in all sports was completed. Pruis was vice president for corporate relations at Ball Corporation from 1978 to 1988.
