Nixon, a member of the tennis team from 1984 through 1988, Nixon and teammate Todd Hershey won the MAC Championship at No. 1 doubles as sophomores and juniors after claiming the MAC’s No. 3 doubles crown in their freshman seasons. As seniors, Nixon and Hershey advanced to the NCAA Tournament in doubles and ranked as high as 12th in the country before finishing the season ranked 18th in the nation. As juniors, the duo advanced to the semifinals of the prestigious Volvo Fall All-American Tournament plus won the district championship in doubles. As a singles player, Nixon was the MAC Champion at No. 4 singles as a junior. He was a three-time All-MAC selection and helped Ball State to four straight conference crowns.
