Naumcheff, a 1983 honorable mention All-America selection, lettered for the football team from 1981 through 1983. As a senior, Naumcheff earned All-MAC First Team honors plus was named the Cardinals’ Most Valuable Player. He was the first receiver in NCAA history to surpass the 1,000-yard receiving mark in 1983 and completed the season with 65 catches for a school-record 1,065 yards and six touchdowns. His single-season receiving yards record still stands today, while his 65 catches rank second in Ball State history. Naumcheff ranked fifth in the nation in reception yards as a senior and was 10th in the country with 5.9 receptions per game. Naumcheff’s senior season was highlighted by a single-game performance of 12 catches for 237 yards at Bowling Green. The 237 yards set a Ball State and MAC record for pass receiving yards in a game, and ranks second in BSU annals for a single-game mark. The 12 catches tie for second at BSU for most passes caught in a game. Naumcheff also handled the team’s punting duties as a senior and punted for 1,531 yards, including a long punt of 51 yards.
