Wagner compiled a 44-12 varsity singles record as Ball State’s number-one player for three seasons and helped the Cardinals to a third-place finish in the 1965 college division national championships. During his senior campaign, Wagner posted a 21-2 individual record to lead Ball State to a 15-3 mark and won both the number-one singles and doubles titles at the ICC meet to spark the Cardinals to the league title. As a junior, he had a 15-3 singles record as Ball State finished 11th in the national tourney.
