McCracken served as Ball State University’s head basketball coach from 1930 through 1938, accumulating a record of 87 wins and 57 losses. His final BSU team posted a 17-4 record for a .810 winning percentage, the best in the school’s history.
He went on to Indiana University, where he directed the Hoosiers to a record of 364 wins and 174 losses, two national titles, three outright Big Ten titles and a share of another league championship.
