Billy Williams

Williams, the father of Ball State’s intercollegiate athletic program, was BSU’s Director of Athletics and Head of Physical Education from 1921 through 1958. He introduced baseball in 1922, football in 1924, tennis in 1926, and both cross country and golf in 1935 in addition to coaching basketball from 1921 through 1925 plus part of the 1929-1930 season, baseball from 1922 through 1958 (with the exception of 1927), football in 1924,1925, and 1929, and cross country in 1935 and 1946 through 1957.
