- Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator
- Email:
Ball State men’s volleyball interim head coach Mike Iandolo announced the signing of newly acquired assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Brian Hogg heading into the 2026 season.
"I am super excited to add Brian to our staff,” Iandolo stated. “He comes with a lot of experience and success in all levels of the game. What he was able to accomplish with Lincoln Memorial University, while facing the challenge of being an independent program, was exceptional. His attention to detail and care for his players is something our guys will respond to immediately!"
Hoggs arrives at Ball State after most recently earning his second Independent Volleyball Association Coach of the Year honor after the 2025 season, leading Lincoln Memorial to a historical 24-1 record which included 15 3-0 sweeps and wins over three nationally ranked opponents. Hoggs also coached two players that received IVA Offensive Player of the Week honors, as well as three that earned IVA Defensive Player of the Year awards. Hoggs culminated his stellar 2025 season by guiding the Railsplitters to the program’s seventh-straight IVA championship, the second-consecutive title with Hoggs and the helm.
Along with claiming IVA titles in back-to-back seasons, Hoggs aided LMU to its highest national rankings, reaching #19 in 2024 and #16 in 2025. During that time, Hoggs helped his players to three American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America Team selections, three IVA All-Tournament Team honorees, two IVA Tournament MVPs and six IVA All-Conference selections.
Before serving the program as head coach, Hoggs provided as an assistant for the 2023 campaign as the program earned its fifth conference title and took second at the 2023 AVCA Fall Collegiate National Beach Championships. Hoggs also guided the Railsplitters to maintain what was then the longest active home winning streak in NCAA Men’s Volleyball with 28.
From 2021-22, Hoggs spent time as a volunteer assistant coach for Western Kentucky University, aiding the women’s program to the finals of the Conference USA Volleyball Championships in 2022.
As head coach and director of the C2 Attack Volleyball Club, Hoggs led the 16 Boys Smack team to a 72-2 record on their way to a 2022 Boys Junior National Championship in the 16 open division. In 2023, Hoggs was awarded USA Volleyball National Boys Indoor Coach of the Year honors as he saw a majority of his C2 18 Boys Smack roster move on to the Division I level that year.
Since 2021, Hoggs has served as a program coach and evaluator at Southern Region Volleyball Association High Performance, working with hundreds of players that are selected to compete for the USA High Performance Championships.
After getting his start as an assistant coach for the Louisville Fury Volleyball club from 2017-18, Hoggs spent a one-year stint from 2020-21 at Green Hills High School as head junior varsity coach and assistant varsity coach.
A native of Hermitage, Tenn., Hoggs played as a setter at Cumberland University before graduating in 2021 with a bachelor’s in accounting.
