2020-21 (Jr.): Earned third letter at Ball State ... Academic All-MAC … played in 20 of Ball State’s 21 matches, earning nine starts … saw action in 58 of a possible 80 sets … served up a team-leading 16 aces, including a pair of aces in five matches … recorded a season-high 11 digs in the series finale versus Bowling Green (Feb. 12), while also handing out a career-high five assists … logged at least one dig in 17 matches, finishing the season with 98 for a 1.69 digs-per-set average … registered a perfect reception percentage in 11 matches, including a 20-for-20 mark in the series opener against Bowling Green (Feb. 11).
2019 (So.): Earned second letter at Ball State ... played in nine of Ball State's 32 matches, seeing action in 13 of a possible 126 sets ... served up a career-high four aces and added a season-best five digs versus Montana (Sept. 6) ... scored a kill and handed out an assist versus Grand Canyon (Sept. 6) ... credited with at least one dig in six of the nine matches she played.
2018 (Fr.): Earned first letter at Ball State ... played in 30 of a possible 32 matches ... saw action in 101 of a possible 120 sets ... ranked fourth on the team with 221 digs for a 2.19 digs-per-set average ... credited with double-digit digs in seven matches, including a career-high 16 in the four-set win over Ohio (Oct. 12) ... recorded 12 digs in three matches and 11 digs in three matches ... earned at least two digs in all 30 matches she played ... served up 15 aces on the season, including two versus Marshall (Aug. 25) and Northern Illinois (Oct. 26) ... registered a perfect reception percentage in 16 matches and finished the year with a .946 (382-for-404) mark ... dished out 16 assists on the year, including a season-high three versus Indiana (Sept. 8).
PHILLIPS ON STARCK: "Cat is a high-energy playmaker in the backcourt. She reads well on defense and scores a lot of points with her serve. She will provide a great spark and work ethic to our team and I look forward to adding her to our program."
HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year letterwinner at Beyer High School for coach Tony Silva ... team captain in each of her final three season ... helped lead the Beyer to a 23-8 record her senior season by smashing 360 kills and serving up 101 aces ... she was just as dominate in the backcourt, bringing up 325 digs ... named the Modesto Metropolitan Conference MVP as a senior ... earned First Team All-Conference accolades in each of her four varsity seasons, while being named team MVP in each of her final three seasons ... logged 672 digs, 617 kills, 221 aces and a .298 hitting percentage over her final three seasons.
PERSONAL: Maintains a 3.600 GPA as a speech language pathology major ... born Dec. 29, 1999 in Sacramento, Calif ... daughter of Sabrina and Daniel Starck ... has two sisters, Courtney and Cailey, and one brother, Cameron ... her sister Cailey played soccer at Ball State from 2011-14 and finished her career tied for sixth in program history with 12 career assists.
STARCK ON BALL STATE: "I chose Ball State because all three of my siblings have attended Ball State and loved it. I wanted to make it a part of my experience too. My sister said their sports programs have helped her so much and that led me into really wanting to play volleyball for Ball State. I am lucky to have gotten the school I was striving for."
