Phillips on Wise: Cam is a competitor. She's not the tallest in stature but she makes up for it in her fire and heart. She has an extremely fast arm and gets on the ball as quick as anyone. She works hard in transition and simply finds ways to help her team score points. She's continued to develop her back court game recently which will help her be even more versatile for us, but she will add much needed depth to our middle position as well as a fire to a gym!
Career Highlights: A four-year letterwinner for coach Kati Weir, a four-year Ball State women's volleyball letterwinner herself, at Wapahani High School … captained the Raiders to a 32-5 record and the 2022 IHSAA Class 2A State Championship as a senior … led Wapahani to a 117-22 record over her career, including IHSAA State Championship runner-up finishes as a freshman and sophomore … first team all-state selection as a sophomore and junior, after earning second team honors as a freshman … finished her career with 1,351 career kills, including a match-high 22 in the championship match of the 2022 IHSAA State Finals versus Linton-Stockton … hit .322 over her career, while adding 275 total blocks, 222 service aces and 411 digs over 426 career sets played … earned first team all-conference and first-team all-county all four years … picked for the North vs. South All-Star Match as a junior, going on to earn MVP honors at the event … four-time academic all-state honoree … also earned four letters in basketball for Wapahani, earning all-county and all-conference honors all four seasons … also an all-state honorable mention and a member of the 1000 point and 500 rebound clubs … played club volleyball at Munciana from 13U to 18U.
Why Ball State: I chose Ball State because it feels like a fit for me in every single way. The coaches and team really made me feel at home on the visit. Their coaching style is one I know I can thrive in, and I want to be a part of something truly great at the next level and get a great education along with it.
