Saleem on Gilley: Ariana is an exceptionally bright and talented student-athlete who does not shy away from challenge and high standards. We look to see Ari make an impressive mark on all four events during her time here at Ball State. She will be a fan favorite on floor with her dynamic presentation and artistry! She has a deceptive level of power and explosiveness that tricks you into thinking that high-level vaulting is easy. I love her personality and work ethic and she will be an asset to our program with her optimistic character and leadership skills.

Career Highlights: Her 9.925 on bars at the Jaycie Phelps Midwest Showdown tied as the 10th-best Level 10 bars score in the nation during the 2021 season … placed eighth in the all-around (38.250) in the senior division at the 2021 Women’s Development Program National Championships … tied for sixth in the all-around at the Region 5 Level 10 Regional Championships with a score of 37.175, including capturing the floor title with a score of 9.675 … took home top honors in the all-around at the 2021 Indiana Optional Level 10 State Championships, including winning the vault, bars and floor competitions … captured first on the beam and tied for 10th in the all-around at the 2019 Region 5 Level 10 Championships … scored runner-up finishes on beam and in the all-around at the 2019 Indiana Level 10 State Championship, while also finishing 4th on floor and fifth on both vault and bars … finished runner-up on floor in 2017 Level 9 Eastern Gymnastics Championship, while also finishing 6th on bars, and 10th in the all-around … owns career best Level 10 scores of 9.755 on vault, 9.925 on bars, 9.525 on beam, and 9.725 on floor.

Why Ball State: I chose Ball State because it was close to home. I fell in love with the beautiful campus. Ball State offers me an opportunity to grow not only in the classroom, but also beyond classroom knowledge.

Personal: Daughter of Christina and Michael Gilley … has two sisters, Taylor and Makayla, and one brother, Anthony … her sister Makayla was a golfer at Saint Mary’s of the Woods … born June 4 … majoring in pre-nursing.
