Jessica Kinder joined the Ball States sports medicine staff in 2024 as the associate athletic trainer serving the Cardinals' men's basketball program.
Before Ball State, Kinder served as athletic trainer for the women's basketball and tennis programs at Rutgers University from 2021 to 2024. She made an impact through enhancing recovery resources and injury prevention programs for student-athletes, while coordinating inventory needs for the athletic performance center. She also spent three seasons at Bradley University working with primarily women's basketball as well as the cross country and track and field teams. There she was able to begin a student observation program for pre-physical therapy and athletic training students.
A 2018 graduate of North Dakota State University with a master of science in advanced athletic training, Kinder completed a graduate assistant post at Minnesota State while working with football and swimming and diving. She also managed a PRN athletic trainer job at Sanford Health working with hockey, football, lacrosse and soccer, and providing athletic training services to a number of summer camps in Minnesota.
Kinder is a BOC certified athletic trainer who graduated with a bachelor of arts in athletic training from Illinois State University in 2016. She is passionate about staying involved in the profession through evidence-based research. She has published research on the relationship of hip muscle activation and the incidence of shoulder injury in collegiate volleyball athletes, as well as presented a case study at the Collegiate Athletic Trainers Society's 2024 symposium.
