Hutch Call joined the Ball State staff in August of 2022.
Prior to joining Ball State Athletics. Call was Director of Player Recovery/Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Washington Redskins. Call Directed the team’s state-of-the-art Recovery Center at Redskins Park. The innovative center featured photo-bio-modulation therapy, sensory deprivation orbs, cryotherapy and a dedicated space for sports vision training. He specializes in sports science to develop physical performance systems and programs to help players in daily recovery and over all athletic development. Prior to the NFL Call spent 18 years as an athletic trainer and strength and conditioning coach at Naval Special Warfare Development group. While at NSWDG, he coordinated the rehabilitation, strength and conditioning and injury prevention programs for the Navy SEAL Teams. He holds certifications from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), Virginia Board of Medicine as an Athletic Trainer and the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
Call played linebacker at Carson-Newman University. While in college, he was part of teams that won National Championships in 1988 and 1989. He also earned a Master’s Degree/Graduate Assistant at Virginia Tech in Sports Medicine and Strength and Conditioning.
Call resides in Muncie. He has two sons Cameron and Luke, and a daughter Brice.
