Career: Blackwell’s 38 career starts and active streak of 30 consecutive starts entering the 2021 season are the most of any offensive player on the Ball State roster.
2020 (Sr.): An All-MAC Second Team selection … started all eight games at right tackle for Ball State’s MAC Championship and Arizona Bowl-winning team … made the move from right guard before the season … blocked for a Cardinals team that ranked 25th nationally in scoring offense (34.2) and 27th in total offense (447.2) … helped the Cardinals feature a balanced attack with 269.2 passing yards and 178.0 rushing yards per game … member of the football program’s leadership council … No. 2 on the team’s annual “Tough Cardinals” list.
2019 (Jr.): Started all 12 games at right guard … one of two offensive linemen to start every game … helped the offense rush for more than 200 yards in seven of the eight league games, including a season-best 374 yards in the win over Toledo on Oct. 19 … Ball State totaled 50 or more rush attempts in four MAC games.
2018 (So.): Played in all 12 games with 11 starts at right guard … the only game he didn’t start was Sept. 8 at No. 8 Notre Dame … helped the offense rush for a season-high 316 yards in the opener against Central Connecticut State … Ball State notched a season-high 51 rush attempts in the win at Central Michigan on Oct. 13.
2017 (Fr.): Utilized in 10 games with seven starts along the offensive line … made five starts at right guard and two at right tackle … his first collegiate start came on Sept. 23 at Western Kentucky … started the final five games of the season … helped the Cardinals rush for a season-high 293 yards in the season finale against Miami on Nov. 21.
HIGH SCHOOL: Earned four letters from head coach Josh Gerber at Norwell High … 3-star recruit via 247Sports … three-time all-state selection by the Indiana Football Coaches Association (IFCA) … helped the Knights earn the school’s first sectional championship in 2014 … voted team’s best offensive lineman as a junior … also lettered on the track & field squad … state qualifier in the shot put as a sophomore and junior … qualified for the Honor Roll seven semesters.
