One-time walk-on in 2018 returns among a Coll-Houston-Pearce linebacking trio that made 33 starts last year and played in every game ... the trio enters 2023 with 44 combined starts overall.
2022: Appeared in all 12 games, with 11 starts ... finished fourth on the team with 85 total tackles -- 48 solo and 37 assisted ... led the Cardinals with 14 TFL, twice any other player, totaling 54 yards ... also paced BSU with five sacks for 33 yards ... had three games with double-digit tackles including a career-high 15 against Eastern Michigan (Oct. 22) ... also added 12 at Kent State (Nov. 1) and 10 at Central Michigan (Oct. 8) ... four PBUs matched Clayton Coll for tops among linebackers, and added his first career interception against UConn (Oct. 15).
2021: Appeared in all 13 games as a linebacker and on special teams ... totaled 37 tackles ... had eight tackles at Penn State (Sept. 11) ... registered season-best 14 tackles vs. Army (Oct. 2) in his first college start -- and was awarded a scholarship the following day in a team meeting ... recorded two tackles in matchups with Western Michigan (Oct. 9), Eastern Michigan (Oct. 16), Northern Illinois (Nov. 10) and Central Michigan (Nov. 17) ... added six tackles vs. Buffalo (Nov. 23).
2020: Saw action in all eight games, predominantly on special teams.
2019: Made his collegiate debut at Northern Illinois on Oct. 5 … recorded his first tackle in the win over Toledo on Oct. 19 … did not play in any other games.
2018: Did not see any action … took a redshirt season.
HIGH SCHOOL: Earned two letters from coach Brian Castner at William Mason High … utilized at safety and linebacker … two-time first team all-conference … voted team’s best defensive back his junior and senior year, and best overall defensive player as a senior.
PERSONAL: Son of Jay Pearce and Gina Lauck … one sister and one brother ... completed his bachelor's degree in climatology and meteorology, and has begun pursuit of an MBA as part of Ball State's graduate program.
